The main campus of Wabash Valley College is located on 120 scenic acres in northwest Mt. Carmel. A complex of modern facilities has been constructed in an area surrounding a lake and enhanced by several wooded areas.
Wabash Valley College offers degrees in Associate in Arts, Associate in Science, Associate in Science & Arts, Associate in General Studies, and Associate in Applied Science. Graduates of degree programs transfer to a broad range of senor institutions to pursue additional degrees or enter employment in a wide variety of career and technical fields.
In addition to offering a most comprehensive schedule of courses, WVC offers outstanding athletic programs in Warriors and Lady Warriors Basketball, Warriors Baseball, and Lady Warriors Softball. An indoor swimming pool, fitness center, and tennis courts are available for use by the students and the community. The beautiful Brubeck Arts Center provides a beautiful 500-seat Brubeck Theatre in which an impressive Performing Arts Series of professional and community performances are held each year. The lovely Brubeck Arts Center Gallery offers visitors to the Gallery a wide variety of art exhibits throughout the year.
The Red Café offers a most appealing breakfast and lunch menu for not only WVC students, but is also open to the community, as well as offering catering services. The WVC Campus Store serves not only as the textbook center for students to purchase their books and supplies, but also offers a wide variety of WVC clothing and gift items.
The first step toward establishing a junior college in Mt. Carmel was taken in 1959 when the Board of Education of District #348 approved a resolution for the study of providing a junior college as a part of the educational system of the District.
The referendum which was held on December 10, 1960, passed by more than a three-to-one margin, to establish a junior college – our Wabash Valley College. The first semester of classes was offered in the fall of 1961. On July 1, 1969, Wabash Valley College became a part of Junior College District #529, along with Olney Central College. Lincoln Trail College and Frontier Community College were added later, forming what is now Illinois Eastern Community Colleges, District #529.
