Wabash Valley College (WVC) is a vibrant part of the Mount Carmel community, offering a wide range of educational and cultural opportunities for students and residents alike. Located on 120 scenic acres in northwest Mount Carmel, WVC offers degrees in associate in arts, Associate in Science, Associate in Science & Arts, Associate in General Studies, and Associate in Applied Science. Graduates of degree programs transfer to a broad range of senior institutions to pursue additional degrees or enter employment in a wide variety of careers and technical fields.

In addition to offering a comprehensive schedule of courses, WVC also offers outstanding athletic programs in basketball, baseball, softball, and soccer as well as competitive club sports. A sand volleyball court and tennis courts are available for use by students and the community. The beautiful Brubeck Arts Center provides a 500-seat theater in which an impressive Performing Arts Series of professional and community performances are held each year. The Brubeck Arts Center Gallery also offers visitors a wide variety of art exhibits throughout the year.

The Warrior Grill offers a breakfast and lunch menu for students and the community, and also offers catering services. The WVC Campus Store serves as the textbook center for students and offers a wide variety of WVC clothing and gift items. WVC is an asset to the Mount Carmel community. It provides educational and cultural opportunities that would not be available otherwise. WVC also contributes to the local economy by creating jobs and attracting students and visitors to the area.

In 1960, Mount Carmel residents voted overwhelmingly to establish a junior college. The first semester of classes at Wabash Valley College was offered in the fall of 1961.

In 1969, WVC joined Olney Central College to form Junior College District #529. Lincoln Trail College and Frontier Community College were added later, forming what is now Illinois Eastern Community Colleges, District #529.
