Wabash County Health Department with Administrative and Public Health offices located at 130 West Seventh Street in Mt. Carmel, serves Wabash County and surrounding area infants, children and adults with both preventative and primary health care services and programming. At this location, along with Administration, the Public Health Division provides a full spectrum of health services including immunizations, WIC , Family Planning Program, infectious disease investigation and follow-up, and Family Case Management services. Additionally, the Prevention Division provides additional programming including Public Health Emergency Planning, Environmental Health, and the All Our Kids Early Childhood Program. Individual/group substance abuse, mental health counseling,chronic mental health case management services and D.U.I. Evaluations/Risk Reduction classes are at their secondary location: The Depot Counseling Center located at 1001 N. Market Street in Mt. Carmel, IL.
Faced with dwindling funding availability, the Wabash County Health Department has faced many changes in the past several years and has refocused services as possible to increase agency revenue. While remaining fiscally stable through innovative and unprecedented cost-saving measures, Wabash County Health Department currently employs 24 full-time employees and is celebrating it’s 31st year as a Certified Local Health Department and its’ 26th year of providing Counseling Services.
