Wabash Rally Against Cancer began in 2018. This local non-profit organization is doing wonderful things to assist cancer patients in Wabash County. For several years local residents and businesses have participated in the Relay for Life program, WRAC seemed like a way to keep funds raised more accessible to local residents.
WRAC is currently working on growing donations to distribute financial assistance to those who apply. There are several fundraisers planned for annual participation, including the WRAC Fall Fest. The purpose of the Fall Fest will be to raise community awareness, with “team booths” and survivor honors. There will be “Ribbons of Love” for “In Honor” or “In Memory” of cancer patients. This is the WRAC version of luminaria bags. WRAC graciously accepts all donations throughout the year, no matter the size all donations are greatly appreciated.
Applications for those in need of assistance are available at local doctor’s offices, with team captains, and local participating businesses. The financial assistance is available for those currently undergoing cancer treatments. The goal is to help with expenses associated with cancer treatments such as, but not limited to: travel expenses (fuel, food, hotels), and
wigs/hair pieces, etc.
Applications received will be reviewed by the financial assistance committee. A set financial amount will be available for each applicant. A physician’s signature will be required, as well as receipts for expenses. All funds will remain within Wabash County and you must be a Wabash County resident to be applicable.
This local organization is truly a blessing to our local residents in need. We encourage you to donate to this worthy cause, and to refer loved ones you know who may be needing assistance. Together WRAC and Wabash County residents can make such a difference in the lives of those who need them.
