Studio D & D’z Kut’z opened their doors January 2nd 2019. It was a dream come true for its founder anowner, Dylan Woods. Before starting Studio D & D’z Kut’z, Dylan spent 6 years in the Army, has been a Volunteer Firefighter since 2001, an EMT since 2008 and a Paramedic since 2010. He is still a Firefighter with the Bellmont Area Fire Protection District. Dylan says that helping people is a passion of his and is one of the aspects of Cosmetology that drew him to the field. He liked having an opportunity to continue to help people in a different way, by helping boost their self-esteem and improve their self-image. Along with being able to help people smile and see themselves in a brighter light, Cosmetology also appealed to Dylan’s artistic side.
Dylan first became interested in Cosmetology after completing his military service in 2001. He was looking for a change of pace, as well as a creative outlet. He started school at Tri-State Beauty College in Evansville, IN, but had to take some time off due to relocating for work. Years later he was looking for that change of pace again and decided the timing was right to pick up where he left off. He completed his training from The Salon Professional Academy and graduated in August of 2018.
Giving back and helping others is a passion of Dylan’s and he offers programs to honor some special people. Dylan created a “Hero’s Club” to give back and provide recognition to those who have given so much to help others. He has a Hero’s Wall in his shop that represents, military and first responders. All Verified Veterans, First Responders and Senior Citizens receive a 10% discount on all services and retail products. Another group he recognizes, are cancer patients. He offers a first haircut for free to anyone going through chemo. He has experienced family and friends with Cancer and helping individuals dealing with the disease is a cause that is near to his heart.
Studio D & D’z Kut’z Design by Dylan is located at 118 ½ W 5th St. in Mt. Carmel, the former location of “The Pump Room” and “Nostalgia”. Dylan has found a way to pay tribute to the former businesses that used to call the building home while also making it his own. He is excited to share that history with Mt. Carmel and continue to build a positive and caring business. Dylan is a returning local, who is excited to follow his dreams here in Mt. Carmel, with his wife Michelle and two children Sierra and Dakota.
Dylan hopes he can bring a different style of salon to the community. His salon is welcoming to all and is a place that makes people feel like they belong. His goal is to continue to grow as well as be the best salon they can be by providing the best services they can and continuing to give back to the community.
