Rodney and Cindy Bishop have owned Bishop Motors for over 44 years and in that time have watched as it has evolved and grown. Bishop Motors first began at a location on the corner of 9th and Mulberry; the business quickly grew and was relocated to Highway 1. It was here that Rodney engaged in wholesale and retail sales, wholesaling approximately 15 cars per week at the Mt. Carmel Auto Auction.
In 1985 a new building was built at 830 Poplar Street, then expanded to a second building. In 2015 the two buildings consolidated to better serve customers with a single-stop location and new service building at the corner of 9th and Poplar.
Rodney has seen more than geographic changes while in the business. He has witnessed economic highs and lows throughout the years, as well. Rodney remembers paying interest during the early 80’s in excess of 20% and has seen oil prices rise up and fall three different times. He states that the community has been fortunate to house companies such as Snap-on Tools, Pacific Press & Shear, Dowell, and Amax Coal over the years. Rodney is grateful for the opportunities and thankful for the experiences.
Bishop Motors has worked hard over the years and is proud to say they have maintained an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau. They offer a variety of great services to the community. Bishop Motors accepts trade-ins, buys vehicles and of course sells them. They also offer financing for all of your credit needs. Rodney deals in internet sales and offers Extended Warranties, Gap Insurance, Life and A&H Insurance Coverage. He also provides service for vehicles that are purchased from his business.
Rodney wants to say thank you to Mt. Carmel for giving him the opportunity to serve their automobile needs for over 44 years, “without you I would not still be in business”.
The next time you are in the market for an automobile stop by or call Bishop Motors to see what they can do for you!
