Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree (Preferred)
- Mechanical Engineering: 3 years (Preferred)
- Must be proficient in 3D CAD software, 2 years of SolidWorks (Preferred)
B&G Machine, Inc. is growing and seeking to add an additional Mechanical Engineer/Designer to our team. You will be a key member of our team collaborating with other Engineers, Machinists, and Assembly Technicians in the performance of assigned projects. The incumbent reports to the Operations Manager and receives direction in the form of broad assignment objectives.
Responsibilities
- Assess preliminary design at quote stage and determine practicality of quote based on customer requirements and specifications
- use 3D modeling software to design equipment based on customer specifications, and compare against previous designs
- Determine material, heat treat, plating etc., based on requirements and cost
- Prioritize tasks and track results to meet deadlines
- Manage costs (time and materials) related to mechanical design budgets
- Review design with Controls and Manufacturing Departments
- Check drawings for accuracy
- Assist manufacturing during fabrication, assembly, and debug
- Create bill of material of purchase items. Verify that part numbers and revision levels match design requirements
- Maintain project records
- Host and participate in design reviews
- Manage changes in scope and/or priorities during project execution
- Accurately completes required documentation
- Respond to customers questions in support of new programs and quotes
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Operations Manager
- Maintain compliance with company policies, safety rules, and good housekeeping standards
